Wonderful writing

We are learning to use adjectives in our stories to make them interesting.

We are learning to identify basic shapes and make a picture with them.

"I used rectangles and circles for the train. The triangles are the roof," said Liam.

I am learning to sound out 3 letter words and blend the sounds together to read the word.

Story writing

You are starting to get back into the routine of writing again after your big holiday. It is great that you have remembered to use finger spaces. You are trying to write down all the sounds you can hear.

"I am doing finger spaces and fullstops." Liam

Addition to 10

Liam, your Maths shows that you are able to add on to a number, starting with the biggest number in your head.

"I can add the numbers in my head" said Liam

Rhyming words

Liam, you are able to write a rhyming string using your robot arms to help make each sound.  This will help you in reading and writing.

Visiting Pakuranga College

As part of our Science Inquiry we went to Pakuranga College. We made slides with our Science buddies and looked at them through the microscopes. 

Learning with Youth Town

Here I am participating in our Youth Town Programme. It’s all about having fun and learning new skills. I am learning to play as part of a team.

Mathematics

I am learning to count on from 5.  I know to keep 5 in my head and count on from there.

I am learning to illustrate a story that I have written from my story writing book.

We first sketched what we thought we looked like into our sketchbooks.  Mrs Scott showed us how to sketch all our features.  We used watercolour paints for our artwork.

Maths

I am learning to read and identify the numerals to 20.  I am practicing the tricky teen numbers 12,13,15.

Reading

I am learning to get my mouth ready to make the first sound in unknown words.  The pictures also help to give me a clue.

Story writing

 Look at your story at the beginning of the year and look at how many more things you can do now. Keep up the great effort .  

Swimming fun

What a great time you are having in the school pool! You are learning to get ready for swimming independently. You are gaining confidence in the water and learning to float on your back with the help of a board.
